Sour Cherry Concentrate

The unique benefits of sour cherries (not to be confused with sweet cherries) first came to light in the 1990s, when numerous studies were published concerning the antioxidant content of this fruit. Further research has identified the active antioxidants as eight polypholic compounds, including anthocyanidins and quercetin.

As well as potent antioxidants, anthocyanidins have been purported from studies to also possess anti-inflammatory properties. Furthermore it has been shown from studies on sour cherries that particular compounds found in these fruits may inhibit the inflammatory pathways associated with uric acid production.

Toetal is a sour cherry concentrate that has been carefully processed to ensure the powerful antioxidant properties are retained. Sour cherries are thankfully not however a reflection of the taste of Toetal, which is naturally sweetened with red grape and apple.

Elderberry, Rosehip and Blackcurrant Concentrates

Elderberry, rosehip and blackcurrants are all exceptionally rich sources of important compounds called flavonoids, including anthocyanidins that are known potent antioxidants.

Indeed to truly maximise antioxidant defences, plant-derived antioxidants. The flavonoid family found in these three fruits is uniquely positioned for such a task, since they are physiologically active in both lipid and aqueous environments in the body, which makes its overall antioxidant properties many times that of vitamin C or vitamin E. Prunes, Fig and Date Concentrates

Views vary as to what constitutes irregularity but most now agree that anyone who passes hard stools and does so less than three times a week is considered to be irregular. The most common cause of this problem is a low intake of fibre. Whilst our Department of Health recommends 18 to 20g of fibre per day, we typically only eat 8 to 10g.

Prunes, figs and dates are all fruits that have traditionally been used to increase the intake of fibre in the diet. So here we have concentrated all three to provide a tasty natural blend and added a special natural soluble fibre called FOS that has been extracted from chicory roots. FOS is known to act as a prebiotic, which encourages the friendly bacteria in the bowel to flourish and this can help maintain regularity by gently stimulating the bowel wall.

Just 10ml (2 teaspoons) provides over 5 grams of soluble fibre for those requiring a convenient way to increase the level of fibre in their diet. Not only is it easy to use but pleasant to taste and appropriate for those 5 years and over.
